We know what makes our audience tick. We can write an engaging, attention-grabbing article that introduces your brand to our enthusiastic audience of travellers. Not only will we write it for you, if you like, we can come up with a unique concept for the article. Alternatively, you can provide us with a pre-written article, which will be subject to the approval of our editing team.
The sponsored article will be featured on the homepage of our website and shared on all of our popular social media channels. The article can be up to 1,000 words and may include photos, videos and two links to your website. It’s so easy, all you have to do is get in touch with us and tell us you’re interested, we’ll take care of the rest.

In February 2016, we wrote a sponsored article for FlyMya.com which appeared on the homepage of our website. We shared the article on our popular social media channels, Facebook (66k likes), Twitter (7k), and Instagram (2.5k).

- 1,200 visits in referral traffic from engaging South East Asia Backpacker.
- Web traffic grew to 72,000 unique visitors during the period.

Knowing that our audience does not appreciate being bombarded with advertising when they look at our site, we have very limited space for banner ads on South East Asia Backpacker. That said, we do have space for a limited number of good quality adverts on the sidebar of our site, which appears on all pages of our website.

Do you want your hotel to be a part of our list: ‘The Best Places to stay in Asia’? Our list includes backpacker hostels, boutique hotels and friendly guesthouses, not just cheap dorm rooms. Our diverse audience has a variety of travel budgets and they like to choose from a range of places to stay, from budget to luxury. We love to feature unique and unusual stays which capture the imagination of our adventurous audience.

Listings / Text links:
We offer two types of listings to people who want to advertise their business in the relevant section of our website. For example, if you’re a hotel in Sihanoukville, you’ll want to be listed here.
- Company listing and link – We will write a brief unbiased description about your company on a page of your choice along with a link to your website.
- Company listing and link with photo – Same as the above, but can include a photo of your business.
Social networking package:
Want to make a noise on social media? This is the option for you! With our active and engaged audience, on Facebook, in particular, we can use our social media presence to boost your business. The posts can advertise a promotion, launch a competition for our readers (which we can also design for you), or just show off the features of your business.
See right an example from travel blogger, Paper Planes, who promoted an article on our Facebook page. The below shows the day of the post, 20th September, and the spike in her Google Analytics that day, reaching a high of 989 sessions per day, during a month where her average figures were around 500 sessions per day.

We are (of course!), open to being invited to stay at your hotel, experience one of your adventure trips, take part in your workshop, attend your event, visit your restaurant, or try out (within means!) whatever you’d like to suggest to us. If we’re close by, we’ll make an effort to come and check out what you have to offer backpackers!
Clarity – We are not obliged to write about stays/experiences that we get offered for free, but we often do!
We have several affiliate partners on this website who we’ve been working with successfully for years. For example, we are one of the top affiliates of the well-established travel insurance, World Nomads, when it comes to referring travellers to them. Recently, they featured us as a ‘success story’ on their partner website (March 2017).
All of the affiliates that we use on this website, are tried and tested, and we regularly use them as travellers ourselves, be it a travel insurance or an airline, so we can be sure of the quality that we are offering our readers. A short history of the brand you’ll be working with…
We started life as a print magazine, South East Asia Backpacker, which launched in Thailand in June 2009. We became the first, and as far as we know, still the ONLY, magazine dedicated to backpackers in Southeast Asia.
We printed 30 magazines over five years (you can view them all here!), which were distributed for free in hostels, cafés and travel agencies all over South East Asia in popular backpacker hotspots. Our magazine was unique in the fact that we accepted articles from backpackers themselves and truly became the ‘voice of backpackers’ in Asia.
We gained fame and popularity all over the region, which spread internationally as people followed us on social networks when they returned home. In July 2014, we decided to make our magazine a digital download in order to reach more people globally as well as launching new websites in South America and Europe.
