For those of you who thought that Komodo National Park was all about the dragons, think again! Welcome to an underwater world among the best in the whole of Southeast Asia!
What to Expect on your Komodo One-Day Dive Experience
You’ll take to the seas in a charming traditional wooden boat. Comfort is a top priority, whether you plan to dive/snorkel, or if you’d rather just chill on the sun-deck! There are sofas and beanbags as well as gorgeous teakwood furniture and custom wood framing. Western comforts aren’t lacking, with western-toilets on board and several charge points for your devices.
Within two hours of setting off, you will reach all of the major dive spots around Komodo (Batu Bolong, Castle Rock, Lighthouse, Three Sisters and Manta Point) as well as a selection of hidden gems that are less well known.
The boat runs daily and tends to cover at least 12 different dive sites on a four-day cycle. 10-12 divers can be accommodated each day (maximum group size, 3 people per dive guide). The boat runs on a six-cylinder diesel engine, made by Mitsubishi, allowing speedy, yet silent movement and making it possible to get three dives in on the same day and still make it back for sunset!
PADI Discover Scuba Diving – For Uncertified Divers
If you do not already have a diving certificate, you will need to to take part in some theoretical and practical lessons before you can dive “for real”. Komodo Dive Centre provides the PADI Discover Scuba Diving course to allow you this necessary preparation. Aside from the theory, you will learn to use the scuba equipment in shallow water and will not go out on the boats until you have become fully comfortable breathing under water.
