Day 1
On the first day of our two-day trek tour, we pick you up at your guesthouse after breakfast and set off in our comfortable 4WD in the direction of Soppong. We stop halfway (25 km) at a viewpoint to give you the opportunity to take pictures of this breathtaking valley and the mountain crests jutting through the morning mist. After this short break, we continue on to our destination, the Lahu village where we will disembark and start our trekking.
In the first part of the trek, we cross the tribe’s farming area where you will have the opportunity of seeing the tribe working the garlic and rice fields. The trek continues uphill, venturing deep into the rainforest where the guide will be pleased to explain the abundant diversity of flora and fauna you will spot on the way. After a brief stop at the summit of the hill to take pictures of this incredible landscape, we continue past a picturesque pond secluded by limestone cliffs where you may see water buffalos and local cattle looking for some refreshment.
After a short walk, you reach the waterfall where you will have lunch. Here you will have plenty of time to relax and play in the water. Once everyone is refreshed we continue downhill before the last small uphill part of the trek. At the top, you will be able to see our destination of the day, the Lahu village where we will spend the night. From there, the village is an easy 45 min. walk with a short stop at the river at the bottom of the valley. Once in the village you will have plenty of time to relax, wander, explore, make contact with the local people and learn about their habits and customs.
Just before dark, you can enjoy the delicious local food the guide will prepare on a wood fire using the tribe’s simple, traditional kitchenware. You will be also be given the opportunity to help sustain the villageโs economy by buying cool soft drinks or beers from a small selection the villagers have prepared for the group. You will spend the night in a basic bamboo hut provided by your hosting family (fully equipped with sleeping bags and mosquito nets for your comfort).
Day 2
After enjoying a big breakfast you will leave the Lahu village following the river upstream. The trek here is flat and easy and will allow you to fully enjoy the rainforest with its big trees and intricate vines. While walking you are likely to meet some local fishermen with their traditional bamboo nets. You will then proceed directly to the lunch stop near the dam, close to the Karen village, where you can refresh yourself in the water and play with the giant carp.
In the afternoon we will proceed downstream for a couple of hours until we reach the famous Lod Cave. Here, we will visit the three chambers of the cave with the aid of a local guide (1.5 hrs time) before heading back to Pai.

Went for Lod Cave+viewpoint trek and it was great fun with Mam leading us through the jungle and teach us about animals and plants.
Expect a bit of adventure with a trip on a bamboo raft and have a peek at some antique artifacts in the last chamber of this huge cave system.
On the way back we stopped at the viewpoint set on the highest mountain of the area and at the waterfall.
Great fun and Mam is the the best!!!
