Flying a drone in Laos is legal as long as you follow some basic rules and have your drone registered. The size and use of your drone will determine who you have to register it with. Drones less than 200g do not need to be registered at all.

Can I Fly A Drone In Laos?

Yes, you can fly a drone in Laos. If your drone weighs more than 200g, you’ll need to register it before flying.

  • Recreational drones weighing less than 200g do not need to be registered.
  • Recreational drones weighing more than 200g but less than 1kg need to be registered with the Ministry of Public Works and Transport in Laos. The form can be found in the appendix of this document
  • Commercial drones, or drones weighing 1-2kg, need to be registered by contacting the Department of Civil Aviation
