Bangkok Food Tour: Save the space and skip breakfast before you go!
Start time: 10.30
Finish time: 14.30
Adventurous eaters will adore this Bangkok food tour which gets them well and truly off the beaten track!
The day begins with a klong boat ride from Siam Pier. This will take you to an old town district which is generally left off of the tourist itineraries. Meander through this neighbourhood on a walking tour and take in the authentic sights of how the people here live. You are unlikely to see another backpacker as your tour the peaceful old town.
You will visit a century-old food market which has been a favourite amongst locals since 1899. The food here is not to be missed during a visit to the Thai capital and you will have the opportunity to try udon noodles in rich beef stew, Thai sausage, freshwater fish curry served in banana leaves and a whole myriad of other mouthwatering dishes. There will be a total 14-15 tastings throughout the course of the tour.
Bangkok represents a clash of cultures as traditional Thai customs meet modern changes. The area that you will visit on this food tour is the only place where women are still trained in traditional Thai dance and you will also see the remnants of Bangkok’s oldest and silent cinema. As well as tasting the best food that Bangkok has to offer, you will also learn about the creation of these dishes and how everything fits together in the tapestry of life for people in this city.
Let us know if there are children in your group when you place your booking. Child’s price is $29.50.
Why Book With Us?
Hi, I’m Nikki. I started South East Asia Backpacker in 2008 as a print magazine. My vision was to create a travel diary for everyone – a place for all travellers to share their experiences. Further down the line, I saw the opportunity to guide backpackers towards the kind of experiences that I’d treasured myself in the region. Today, there is so much choice, but there are a lot of poor-quality tours and companies that offer mediocre experiences with little care for the environment. I wanted to create a handpicked selection of the best tried and tested activities to help backpackers avoid scams and unwanted experiences.
Today, I run this website with my partner, Dave, from Spain, where we live with our two young children. All of the bookable activities that you find on this website have been vetted by a member of our team and we have a friendly relationship with the operator. There are real humans behind South East Asia Backpacker and we are passionate about sustainable travel and tourism in Southeast Asia.
We’re committed to helping travellers at every stage of the journey and are happy to answer your questions pre, during and post travels. We understand that plans can change which is why we offer a full refund on the deposit up to 72 hours before the start of your trip, no questions asked. We offer advice on flights, visas, itineraries, hostels, backpacks, packing and more! If you have any questions about our business or any of the tours that we provide, feel free to contact me on Whatsapp.
