Itinerary
- Pickup is from your accommodation in Sandakan at 08:15-08:30 or Sepilok at 08:50-09:00.
- First on the agenda is a visit to the Sepilok Orangutan Centre for feeding time at 10:00. Youโll see these majestic, semi-wild creatures come out of the jungle for their free meal.
- From there, head to the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre. Here, youโll learn about the worldโs smallest bear species and get to see them playing in their enclosures.
- After witnessing the bears for yourself, youโll visit the Mango Garden Restaurant for lunch.
- Following lunch, the tour heads to the Gomantong Caves, the largest limestone hill in Sabah. The caves are one of the most important sources of edible bird nest in Malaysia!
- Spend some time exploring the epic cave system before heading to Kinabatangan River for your afternoon river cruise.
- Upon arrival at Kinabatangan, youโll have welcome drinks and get a chance to freshen up at Nature Lodge Kinabatangan. Your river cruise will begin at 16:00.
- Spend close to two hours wildlife spotting on the river, keep your eyes peeled for Borneoโs Big Five, then head back to the lodge for dinner. There will be a presentation on wildlife in Sabah following dinner, then itโs time to head back to your accommodation in Sepilok or Sandakan.
- Drop off at your accommodation will be around 22:00
Food
Lunch is at the Mango Garden Restaurant, where youโll be able to choose from their provided menu. Dietary requirements are catered for. Dinner will be at Nature Lodge Kinabatangan where dietary requirements can also be catered for. Please inform us of any dietary requirements using the โadditional informationโ box at the time of booking.

- What should I pack for the trip? For this full-day Sandakan Wildlife Tour, you should bring: insect repellent, raincoat, hat, and suncream, comfortable shoes with good grip, camera, long sleeves and trousers recommended.
- What is the best time of year to do this trip? April to September is the best time to do this tour. Itโs the dry season in Sabah, so thereโs less chance of rain. However, it can rain any time of year, so always pack a coat! You’ll likely see more wildlife along the Kinabatangan River during this period.
