Itinerary

• Pick-up is between 10:30-10:45 in Sandakan. There will be stops en route to pick up other travellers embarking on this tour, as well as a stop at a local shop to pick up supplies and use the bathroom if required. Getting some snacks here is recommended as you won’t be supplied food until your arrival at Kinabatangan Nature Lodge at around 15:00. 
• When you get to the lodge, you’ll be greeted with a welcome drink and snacks. Your river cruise will begin at 16:00 and last almost two hours. Keep your eyes peeled for Borneo’s Big Five! 
• Dinner will be served at 18:00 and will be followed by a presentation about the conservation efforts happening in the area. 
• At 20:00 you’ll return to the minibus to make your way back to Sandakan. Drop off at your accommodation will be at around 22:00. 

Food

Upon arrival at Nature Lodge Kinabatangan, you’ll be given snacks, dinner is served at 18:00. Dietary requirements can be catered for. Please let us know in the ‘additional information’ box if you have specific dietary requirements.

• What should I pack for the trip? For this half-day Kinabatangan River trip, you should bring: Binoculars, insect repellent, raincoat, hat and sunscreen – long sleeves and trousers are recommended. 
• What is the best time of year to do this trip? April to September is the best time to do this tour. It’s the dry season in Sabah, so there’s less chance of rain. However, it can rain any time of year, so always pack a coat! You’ll likely see more wildlife along the Kinabatangan River during this period.
