Itinerary

Day 1

Luang Namtha – Khmu Tribe Village – Waterfalls Camp

You will be picked up in Luang Namtha in the morning and transported south to the Chaluensouk village. It is here where you will meet the village guide and the trek will begin. The first part of the trek involves hiking up to the top of a mountain. From there, you will continue along the ridgeline before dropping down to explore a dense green forest.

Lunch will be prepared by your guides en route. You will continue to follow the route down until you reach the sanctuary camp which is located in one of the oldest and most beautiful parts of the forest. There will be a small break before you will walk along a stream. There will also be the option to enjoy the waterfall under the old trees by taking a dip.

During the evening meal, you will be taught how to cook using local bamboo techniques and also shown how to make a campfire. The rest of the night is yours to spend as you like but wildlife spotting comes highly recommended!

Day 2

Camp – Mountain Ridge – Mountain Rice Field Views – Ban Namlue – Luang Namtha

The day will begin with a filling breakfast as well as a cup of tea or coffee to wake you up! After breakfast, you will need to pack up your belongings and get ready for another full day of trekking.

First, you will hike up a second mountain for around one and a half hours before arriving at the mountain ridge. This walk will be more gentle than the previous day but also offers some beautiful views. There will be the opportunity to see various landscapes including chestnut, banana and bamboo forests as well as some incredible mountain views.

Eventually, you will begin to descend down the mountain to the last minority village of the Lantan tribe. Here you will meet the local people and be able to observe them making bamboo paper and dyeing cotton.

There will be some free time to explore the village before you walk to the main road to catch the transport to head back to town. You will likely be arriving back in Luang Namtha between around 4 pm and 5 pm.
