Course Schedule
Arrival day!
Meet the Team and get settled in!
4pm – Meet at the Roctopus Dive shop for an orientation, this will give you the chance to meet and get to know the Roctopus team, your instructor and other students in your group. Groups are kept to 4-people max to ensure your safety, personal instruction and enjoyment. You will be all set up on our e-learning site via your mobile phone or tablet, and you will have some self study to do and complete the quizzes online.
DAY 1: Learning Essential Dive Skills.
The first morning (starting at 8am) will be a classroom session to go over the diving theory and essential safety information before you take the plunge. We give you a rundown of the equipment you will be using and you will learn how the human body reacts to pressure under water.
Also, we go over any questions that you may have from your quiz that you completed online, before moving onto your final exam (don’t worry too much about the exam, it’s made for a 10-year old and your instructor will be sure that you have the knowledge to easily pass!)
Learning to dive is so much fun – but safety is our priority, so we make sure we prepare you for the afternoon for the first in water session.
1pm – After a break for lunch, we move onto the practical skills in our private swimming pool, starting slowly getting comfortable and learn the skills you need to become a diver. People are commonly nervous and have fears of the unknown the first time they dive, but with our friendly, experienced team and our small groups, you will be comfortable and loving the underwater world in no time at all!
DAY 2: Plunge into the Ocean
We depart Nusa Lembongan usually between 7am-10am (the boat departure schedule changes daily due to the tides) – We head out to complete your first two open water training dives to practice basic skills learnt on the first day and start to do what diving is all about, exploring the site, enjoying the wildlife! This is where you will start to become a real diver and progress your diving ability and comfort in the water.
DAY 3: Manta Madness!
Finally for the last day, enjoy the incredible scenic cliff views as we visit a few different dive sites that are now a bit deeper and further away from the island.
By this stage, you have progressed your diving skill and ability, so we get a lot of time swimming around these great sites you will get to see the amazing underwater life.
Enjoy the last two training dives with the most fantastic diving, surrounded by an abundance of marine life from turtles, frogfish, mantis shrimp, box fish, giant travally, scorpion fish, octopus, eagle rays, clownfish – not forgetting the famous manta rays! Possibly if you’re lucky too – the rare mola mola! One thing is for sure, you won’t be able to believe this brand new world you have discovered!
Upon completion of these two dives, you are now qualified to scuba dive up to 20 metres!
Once certified, it’s time to let the adventures begin! You can take your certificate with you on your travels and be allowed to dive, wherever there’s a dive shop! (Once you are certified, you can get fun dives with Roctopus discounted by 10% both here in Nusa Lembongan and at our Koh Tao, Thailand center!)
