Best Time to Visit Kayangan Lake 🌤️

The best time to visit Kayangan Lake is between December and February when the weather is cooler, and rainfall is minimal. From March to May, temperatures rise and this, together with high humidity, makes outdoor activities less enjoyable. The rainy season, from June to October, is best avoided since heavy rain can disrupt travel plans and boat rides are frequently cancelled during this time. 

Visit in dry season for the best weather.

Kayangan lake is great for swimming as it is composed of 70% freshwater and 30% saltwater. You won’t find any lake in the Philippines as clear as this! 

2. Snorkel in the Crystalline Water 🤿

Kayangan Lake is famous for its crystal-clear waters and high visibility. Snorkel to explore the underwater rock formations and tropical fish swimming around you! 

3. Hike to the Viewpoint 🥾

Climb over 300 steps to the viewpoint overlooking the turquoise-colored waters with their limestone cliffs. This may be the highlight of your day! If you go around golden hour, you can catch the orange hues over the water and cliffs.

Enjoy the air of adventure as you discover small caves around the lake. You can even enter most of them with your kayak.

Food and Drink at Kayangan Lake 🦞

Coron Town has a few restaurants serving Filipino dishes. Sample the grilled seafood at Kawayanan Grill or Lobster King, one of the best restaurants in town for freshly cooked seafood. 

Coron also has a few local delicacies: lamayo, a vinegar-marinated fish, and cashew tarts, a sweet pastry made from local nuts. For casual dining, head to Sinugba Sa Balay for a real Filipino barbecue.


How to Get to Kayangan Lake ⛵️

To get to Kayangan lake, you will first need to reach Coron. From Manila or Cebu flights into Busuanga Airport take about an hour. From the airport, it is a 30-minute ride by van or taxi to get to Coron Town. 

From Palawan Island, you can take the ferry from El Nido to Coron (around 5 hours). Or, for more adventure, you could opt for one of the multi-day boat tours that travel between El Nido and Coron.

From Coron Town, there are many guides offering tour packages to Kayangan Lake. 

You’ll need to take a boat to access Kayangan Lake.
