Overview:
Set sail on a thrilling three-day adventure around the incredible Komodo National Park, home to the world-famous Komodo dragons! Round up some friends or make new ones on board as you embark on this exciting group sailing trip aboard a traditional Indonesian phinisi boat.
Go hiking on uninhibited islands, soak up the breathtaking views and swim off a pink-sanded beach. You’ll also experience amazing wildlife encounters. Snorkel in crystal-clear waters with majestic manta rays, sea turtles and other tropical marine life. On land, take a hike in search of the mighty Komodo dragon — the largest lizard in the world!
On board, you’ll enjoy a private cabin with sea views and delicious local food. All you’ll need to do is sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery as you sail around one of Southeast Asia’s most spectacular destinations.
Itinerary:

Day 1 :
- 9–10 am pick up from airport or hotel
- 11 am depart Labuan Bajo
- Kelor Island — Enjoy panoramic views of Flores from this small island just off the coast
- Manjarite Island — Snorkel in the clear waters around the island
- Kalong Island — Witness thousands of bats swarming as they leave Kalong Island in search of their nightly meal
Day 2 :
- Komodo Island — Go on a guided hike in search of Komodo dragons
- Padar Island — Hike to the viewpoint for iconic views of the National Park
- Pink Beach — Relax on soft pink sand or enjoy snorkelling off the beach
- Taka Makassar — Swim or snorkel in crystal-clear waters or sunbath on the sandbank
- Manta Point — Snorkel with magnificent manta rays
- Sebayur — Dive in for one last snorkelling session among coral reefs and tropical marine life
Day 3 :
- Sail from Sebayur back to Labuan Bajo
- Arrive Labuan Bajo approx. 12 pm
Accommodation:
The sailboat used on the Komodo Sailing Trip is the Ophelia. There are four cabins on board, all of which have sea views and AC. Two rooms (Master Cabin and Cabin Suite) have queensize beds and en suite bathrooms. The remaining two rooms each have a queensize bed and an option to add a third single bed. These cabins share a bathroom.
Please note that the minimum rate for each room is based on 2 people sharing. Solo travellers will be required to cover the full room rate.
Food:
All meals are included from lunch on Day 1 to breakfast on Day 3. The food is freshly prepared using delicious local ingredients. A typical meal may include rice, fish, chicken and vegetables. Vegetarians and vegans can be catered for. Please let Labaho know of any dietary requirements before the tour begins.
Complimentary drinking water, tea and coffee will be available throughout the trip.

The Komodo Sailing Trip begins and ends in the town of Labuan Bajo on the island of Flores.
How to Get There:
Labuan Bajo is served by Komodo International Airport, which is just a short drive from the centre of the town. Direct flights from Bali take around 1 hour, or 2 hours from Jakarta.

FAQs
What is the best month to do the sailing trip?
The dry season (April to October) is the best time to visit Komodo National Park. The dry days during these months are best for hiking. The sea is also calmer during this time, which means a smoother journey and good water visibility for snorkelling.
On what days of the week does the trip run?
The Komodo Sailing Trip departs every Monday and Friday.
How many people will be on board?
This is a group tour. The ship can accommodate up to 10 guests plus crew and tour guide.

How likely is it that I’ll see Komodo dragons?
As with any wildlife encounter, sightings can never be guaranteed. However, hiking on Komodo Island provides an excellent chance of spotting the animals. There are around 3,000–3,500 Komodo dragons living in the national park.
Are Komodo National Park Fees included in the price?
No, please bring an additional 550,000 IDR per person (in cash) to pay for the Komodo National Park entrance fee.
Can I fly a drone in Komodo National Park?
Flying drones in the Komodo National Park is only allowed with a permit. Permits can be organised in Labuan Bajo and it’s recommended to organise this two days before the tour begins. The permit costs 2,000,000 IDR (approx. $122 USD) per day so participants of the 3-day trip will be charged 6,000,000 IDR (approx. $366 USD).
Payment:
To reserve your place on this activity you will need to pay a deposit online with South East Asia Backpacker via credit or debit card. The remaining balance will be paid directly to Labaho who will send payment instructions upon confirmation of your booking.
