Why Book With Us?
Hi, I’m Nikki. I started South East Asia Backpacker in 2008 as a print magazine. My vision was to create a travel diary for everyone – a place for all travellers to share their experiences. Further down the line, I saw the opportunity to guide backpackers towards the kind of experiences that I’d treasured myself in the region. Today, there is so much choice, but there are a lot of poor-quality tours and companies that offer mediocre experiences with little care for the environment. I wanted to create a handpicked selection of the best tried and tested activities to help backpackers avoid scams and unwanted experiences.
Today, I run this website with my partner, Dave, from Spain, where we live with our two young children. All of the bookable activities that you find on this website have been vetted by a member of our team and we have a friendly relationship with the operator. There are real humans behind South East Asia Backpacker and we are passionate about sustainable travel and tourism in Southeast Asia.
We’re committed to helping travellers at every stage of the journey and are happy to answer your questions pre, during and post travels. We understand that plans can change which is why we offer a full refund on the deposit up to 72 hours before the start of your trip, no questions asked. We offer advice on flights, visas, itineraries, hostels, backpacks, packing and more! If you have any questions about our business or any of the tours that we provide, feel free to contact me on Whatsapp.
FAQ
Can I do the trip from Sabang?
Yes, we can meet you in Sabang for the tour. The regular trips depart Sabang at around 9 AM.
When is the best time to go?
Rainy season in Puerto Princesa is July – October. High season is November to June. There is no bad time to visit the Underground River but conditions are generally better in the high season as the sea is calmer and weather tends to be sunny.
If your tour is unable to go ahead because of bad weather conditions, Corazon will work with you to find an alternative day to complete the trip.
What should I pack?
Pack light! You’ll be out for about 6-8 hours and moving from vans to boats and back again so you don’t want to be carrying anything too bulky.
Will I get wet?
You could get wet entering the boat so make sure you bring some flip-flops or sandals with you!
Amazing! This trip started with the tour guide picking us up right on time- and he was very patient with my 5 children loading up. Ecko (tour guide) from Corazon Tours was a wealth of information on the ride up and helpful. The underground river was awesome and I was very happy with the earbuds and prerecorded explanation-all in an effort to preserve the natural habitat. This was well organized, active and crazy fun!
