FAQs
- What is the best month to do the Mount Rinjani Trek?
It is only possible to hike Mount Rinjani during Lombokโs dry season. The trail is open from April to December. - How difficult is the Mount Rinjani Trek?
The Mount Rinjani Trek is a challenging trail that includes trekking at altitude on uneven terrain with steep inclines. It should only be attempted by hikers with a good level of fitness. Please note that a health check is required (by the local Indonesian government) before beginning the trek. This will be arranged by Hallo Trekker (trekkers will visit a small clinic in Sembalun) and the cost is included in the price of the trek. - How long is the Mount Rinjani Trek?
The 2-day Sembalun to Sembalun trek covers 25 km and the 3-day Sembalun to Senaru trek is 27.5 km long. - Do I have to carry my own luggage?
Yes. Porters are provided to carry camping equipment and food but each trekker will need to carry their own luggage. Itโs advised to bring a small daypack with only the essentials. Guests can leave their main luggage at the trekking office. - Iโm vegetarian / vegan / have dietary requirements. Can I be catered for?
Yes, vegetarians and vegans can be catered for. Please advise Hallo Trekker of any dietary requirements prior to the start of the trek. - What is the difference between the 2-day trek and the 3-day trek?
Both treks begin in Sembulan village. On the 2-day trek, hikers will ascend to the summit and then return to the starting point via the same trail. This trek covers a lot of ground in a short space of time making it more challenging. On the 3-day trek, hikers will follow a different trail after summiting (heading for Senaru Village) and will have time to visit the crater lake and hot springs. These activities and the longer timeframe create a more relaxed experience. If time allows, we recommend taking the 3-day trek so you can take a more leisurely pace and enjoy your time on the mountain. - What should I bring?
- Daypack
- Good trekking shoes/boots
- Warm, windproof jacket (can be rented in Lombok)
- Lightweight clothing (layering is key)
- Warm hat and sun hat
- Swimwear and small towel
- Head lamp or small hand torch
- Personal medication and sunblock
Payment:
To reserve your place on this activity you will need to pay a deposit online with South East Asia Backpacker via credit or debit card. The remaining balance will be paid directly to Hallo Trekker who will send payment instructions upon confirmation of your booking.
