Overview
Experience a taste of Laos with the famous Tamarind Cooking School, recently visited by British chef Gordon Ramsay on his tour of the Mekong!
Your cooking class will start with a trip to the market (*daytime tour only). Here you’ll see where the locals shop and learn about the traditional food used in Laotian cooking. Fresh ingredients are vital in Lao cuisine and you will pick up the things you need for your cooking session here.
After returning from the market, you’ll be taken to the beautiful setting of Tamarind Gardens, where the cooking class will take place. Your English-speaking chef will explain Lao food etiquette and also introduce the traditional techniques which you’ll use to create the day’s dishes. Techniques that you’ll learn include using a pestle and mortar, cooking over an open fire and using bamboo baskets to steam food.
