Itinerary
Day 1
Luang Namtha โ Khmu Village โ Local Rice Paddies Lodge
The day will begin around 8.30am where you will drive to your river destination. During the journey, you will be given some basic instruction regarding double kayaking and paddling safety before you set off in your kayak. The views from the kayak are amazing and showcase the incredible wilderness of the Namha National Park. There will be some rapids so make sure you are holding on tight!
Along the river, you will see birds fly ahead and the fishermen going about their daily work. After a lunch picnic on the riverbank where you can enjoy some of the local cuisine, you will be able to go for a swim in the water.
After the swimming break, you will continue in the kayaks, sometimes taking breaks to visit the villages which sit along the river. After you arrive at Hardyong village, the kayak trip will finish and you will be able to meet the people that live there. There will then be an hour walk to the place where you will be spending the night.
In the evening, you will be taught how to cook in traditional Lao fashion before enjoying a peaceful night listening to the sounds of the forest from your shelter.
Day 2
Campsite โ Highest Peak Views โ Luang Namtha
In the morning you can laze around the campfire enjoying a hot drink until your breakfast is ready. The day will begin with an upward climb for around three hours to reach Namha National Park’s highest mountain peak. The hike weaves through some of the huge trees that this area is known for and offers the perfect opportunity to learn about the plant diversity, as well as the use of these plants for herbal medicine.
Once you reach the top of the mountain, you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of both the town and the fog which clings to the forest below. Lunch will be provided on your way back down.
Your guides are very knowledgeable about the surrounding nature so please feel free to ask them any questions you may have. After the six-hour hike is completed, you will need to cross the river to the other side to pick up the transport. This journey takes around an hour and a half.
