Half-Day Climbing Course – Ideal For New Climbers!
Climbing Day Begins: 9:30 AM
Return to Adamโs Climbing School: 1:00 PM
This introduction to climbing class will usually take place at ‘Sleeping Wall‘ located 15 minutes from Vang Vieng on the banks of the beautiful Nam Song River. Sleeping Wall has over 31 established beginner to intermediate routes that will challenge any level of climber. The trek to the cliff โthe approachโ is the easiest in the area and can be managed in flip flops.
The course will begin with instruction on climbing equipment, climbing knots, belay devices and safe belaying techniques and procedures. You will be allowed to belay a lead climber (instructor) who will set up a top rope for you.
You will begin with an easy warm-up climb and progress upwards in climbing grade typically completing 4 – 6 climbs of increasing difficulty before returning to Vang Vieng. Your climbing guide will offer instruction and guidance in hand and foot placement (Beta) as needed. This can be extremely helpful to a beginning climber just learning how to read the rock.
Full-Day Climbing Course – Perfect For Beginners!
Climbing Day Begins: 9:30 AM
Return to Adamโs Climbing School: 5:00 PM
This full-day introduction climbing class will usually take place at ‘Sleeping Wall/Secret Canyon‘ or ‘PhaDaeng‘ located 15 and 20 minutes, respectively from Vang Vieng. Sleeping Wall is located next to the Nam Song River and has over 31 established beginner/intermediate routes that will test any level of climber.
PhaDaeng is located east of town heading towards ‘Blue Lagoon‘. This approach is steep and has very sharp rocks, therefore it is better attempted with good hiking boots or trainers. This location receives more sunlight throughout the day which is great for photos but it makes sunscreen a necessity. This site offers a great view of the valley below and very long climbs, up to 25 meters. 15 Intermediate routes are currently available at this site.
The course will begin with instruction on top-rope climbing, belay & climbing techniques, equipment use and safety measures. You will begin with a warm-up climb and progress upwards in climbing grade over the course of the morning. Your climbing guide will offer guidance in hand and foot placement as required. This can help a beginner learn to read rock.
After completing 4 to 6 climbs of increasing difficulty you will take a lunch break with a meal that is included in your tour price. After enjoying a nice meal, the afternoon will be filled with more climbing and additional practice with belay concepts.

Really enjoyed my half day of climbing and thought it was good value for money. I learned about the basics of rope rope climbing/belaying from my instructor who spoke with good English. Our climb was thankfully in a nice shadowy area so it wasnโt too hot either.
Had a great morning climbing – mixed ability group of four. Our instructor, Sien, spoke good English and was very clear in his instructions. He was a great instructor! Very good value for money- you would enjoy this activity as a beginner or experienced climber
We had a really great day. Adam and his stuff are very experienced climbers and they took good care of us. They explained everything, ensured our safety and adjusted the climbs to oneโs ability and experience. We couldnโt have wished for a better course.
