A popular choice for quarantining visitors to Indonesia is the Hotel Borobudur Jakarta. It’s located around 13 miles from Jakarta International Airport and sits close to Jakarta Cathedral.

The hotel provides three meals a day in their quarantine package and you can choose between Western and Asian food. Most reviews state that the food is adequate and that the portions are a good size.

Rooms come with air conditioning and private bathrooms. Travellers report that the balconies come with beautiful views of nature, great for bird spotting.

Traveller Tip: Do not order meals for the entire day in one go. It is best to call room service around an hour before you want to eat. Stick with the fixed menus to stay within budget.

2. Orchardz Hotel Jayakarta

Package: 9 nights / 10 days

  • Price for 1 person – 9m IDR
  • Price for 2 people – 12m IDR

A classically styled hotel located in the heart of Jakarta’s entertainment district and 40 minutes from Soekarno Hatta International Airport. Offering everything you will need for your quarantine stay at a reasonable price. Reviews of this hotel are very good and most guests have decent things to say about the facilities and helpful staff.

It is worth pointing out that there are six hotels under the chain name ‘Orchardz’ in Jakarta. Of these six, there were originally two Orchardz hotel branches offering the quarantine package, the Jayakarta and the Bandara. Now, only the Jayakarta is on the official quarantine hotel list, so make sure you book the right one!

This 4-star modern hotel is a great choice of hotel for your quarantine in Jakarta. There are two room options as part of their repatriation package, the deluxe (prices listed above) and the executive suite. This costs 8.1m IDR for one person and 11.7m IDR for two people.

The hotel is best known for its friendly and welcoming staff who will do whatever they can to make your stay pleasant. Sadly, the rooms don’t have balconies but each comes with a desk which is very helpful for business travellers who need to get work done during their quarantine. The laundry service extends to five pieces a day.

This five-star hotel located in the heart of Jakarta’s Golden Triangle is one of the most highly rated and value for money options in Jakarta for your 5-day quarantine stay. The hotel has a gym, spa and landscaped pool –not that you’ll be able to enjoy any of them sadly!
Vegetarian options are available. You can also choose to upgrade your room to an Executive Business Room (70m²) or a Junior Suite (80m²). Unlike most of the other hotels on this list, there are additional charges for the PCR tests  which you will have to do when arriving at the airport and before leaving the hotel.

Psst… Have you heard that Bali has reopened for tourism? If you are from one of the approved countries, you can head straight to the island and quarantine in a hotel in Bali instead!

5. Harris Suites Puri Mansion

Package: 9 nights / 10 days

  • Price for 1 person in room with private balcony = 9.9m IDR
  • Price for 2 people in room with private balcony = 14.5m IDR

Includes: 3 x daily meals, five pieces of laundry per day, airport pick-up (one way), 2 X PCR tests.

WARNING: Recently, we have heard very negative reports from travellers about the food at Harris Suites. One traveller said it was so bad they ended up losing weight as they just couldn’t eat it, another traveller reported that he ended up in hospital with severe food poisoning after spending five days at the hotel. For more reports, search in the Facebook Group: ‘Visa & Immigration Indonesia’.

This fairly new and modern hotel with clean and spacious rooms is a good choice for your 5-day quarantine stay… for one main reason. Not being allowed to leave your room for six days straight can be a bit claustrophobic. At least this hotel has the one big advantage of having a balcony – unlike the other hotels on this list!

The food is reportedly very good here and the room service is prompt and efficient. The rooms come well equipped with flat-screen TV, hot shower, AC and WiFI. The views from the top floor rooms over the hotel gardens, swimming pool and city (that you aren’t allowed to visit yet) are impressive.

The only thing to be aware of is that the hotel is surrounded by mosques… which means that at 4.30 am you will be awakened by the distinctive Muslim call to prayer. Depending on how you feel about this, it could be a cultural experience that you enjoy or a reason to avoid the hotel.

6. Mercure Jakarta Gatot Subroto

Package: 9 nights / 10 days

  • Price for 2 people – 15.425m IDR

Includes: 3 x meals a day, 2 X PCR test, airport pick-up, 30% discount on room service menu and five pieces of laundry per day.

Another popular choice amongst foreign nationals travelling to Indonesia. This hotel gets very good reviews in terms of staff helpfulness, facilities and room service.

The food is reportedly very good, though some people have said that the portions are a bit on the small side. (They do offer vegan and vegetarian options.) If you’re not quite full after your dinner, there is a 30% discount on the food and beverages on the room service menu, which is a good deal.

The views from the rooms are impressive (especially on the higher floors) though they can be a little noisy as the hotel is located on a main road. All in all, a good option at a decent price.

For food, they provide two options; Western and Indonesian. Each meal consists of juice, fruit, main course, soup, sometimes pastry or dessert. Mineral water is also included. There is unlimited tea and mineral water in the room as well as a coffee machine to make your own brews. As you would expect from a five-star hotel, the staff are on hand to help with your every need.

Offering a ‘luxury quarantine experience’, the Fairmont Hotel costs more than double the price of most of the other hotels on this list.

With spacious rooms and suites with big windows overlooking the Senayan Golf Course and the Jakarta skyline, this hotel is worth the price tag for many travellers. Three meals a day are delivered to your room and you can enjoy high-speed WiFi and satellite TV.

Please note, the Holiday Inn Express Pluit, despite being very popular, was removed from the authorised quarantine hotel list in October 2021. The Holiday Inn Express Wahid Hasyim is now on the list but likely more expensive. I can’t tell you because they don’t respond to my WA msg or email. Since early December quarantine has increased to 9 nights for all international arrivals, which not only makes it more expensive but has slashed hotel availability by 75%. You need to book well in advance.

      Hi there!

Thanks so much for the update, we’ll update the article to reflect these changes. 🙂

  2. I stayed in Novotel in February, great food (the Indonesian choices, not the western menu experiments). I had no problem receiving further food parcels from friends as far as E. Java who sent me a box of my favourite fat orange star-fruits), and the concierge ran my return gifts to the JNE mail agent and the excellent room service fried me a kilo of tempe a day. Good wifi and the 5 days flew by hosting some online seminars with UK. Domestic flights needed skilled coordination that you don’t buy the ticket until you are holding your negative covid test, so reserve-test-buy-fly and need the e-hac App. I had no problem with trains in Java, the G-Nose tests (totally unvalidated test invented by UGM University microbiologists) involve blowing in a bag for Rp10,000 which everyone passes. Now things have clamped down hard as the death rate is catastrophic so postponing my next project unless I can help directly.

    1. Thanks for telling us about your experience, Jonathon! It is very sad to see the situation in Indonesia at the moment… we are really hoping that it improves soon. All the best to you!

        1. Hi Libby, the only quarantine hotel with a balcony is Harris Suites Puri Mansion, though we’ve heard very bad reviews about the food there so watch out! Also, a more expensive option would be the Shangrila Bay Suite! You could also try asking if any new options with balcony have been added to the list in this Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/369666893613733/

  3. Before booking anything, please read reviews on TripAdvisor and Google. See real pictures, from the guest, not the photoshopped ones. It will help make the right choice.

    1. Thank You for informations.
Me and my wife plan to go soon. Also 7/8 Qurantine. This Post in yours blog motivated me and gived power.
