Top 10 Quarantine Hotels in Jakarta, Indonesia

Jakarta Indonesia Skyline

According to Indonesia’s current travel restrictions, all travellers who enter the country must quarantine in a government-approved hotel upon arrival. Below we look at the best hotels in Jakarta to complete your quarantine.

Despite most of Southeast Asia sticking to a quarantine of 14 days, Indonesia has decided on a quarantine period of five days.* This applies whether you are fully vaccinated or not. There are rumours that this quarantine will be extended in the next few weeks in order to curb the spread of new variants of COVID-19. However, at the moment, the quarantine period remains at five days. (*Note: For Filipino, Indian and Pakistani nationals or anyone travelling to Indonesia from those countries, the quarantine period is set at 14 days.)

Although officially, non-Indonesians are not allowed to enter the country right now, some foreign travellers are finding ways to travel to Indonesia under the current restrictions. The most popular way is using the single-entry B211 Business Visa, AKA, the Social Cultural Visa, which allows travellers to stay in the country for a maximum of 180 days. The visa must be arranged by a travel agency and you will need sponsorship by an Indonesian company. It can be very expensive to arrange.

5 or 14 days? On 17th May 2021, the Indonesian Ministry of Health made a recommendation to the Indonesian Government COVID-19 Task Force with several changes to the Indonesian travel regulations. Among these, was that the quarantine period should be extended from five days to 14 days for many more nationalities and that returning Indonesian citizens would have to complete five days in a hotel followed by 14 days of self-isolation at home.*

So far, this is only a recommendation and there has been no official statement confirming the change of quarantine period for any nationality. The quarantine period remains at five days for all visitors to Indonesia except those of Indian, Filipino and Pakistani nationality or those travelling from those countries. We will update this article as soon as fresh information is available.

One of the cheapest hotels on this list is the Holiday Inn Pluit which is located not far from Jakarta International Airport and right next to the Emporium Pluit Shopping Mall. This is the only hotel currently doing the 14 day quarantine, so for Indian, Pakistani and Filipino nationals, this is your only choice. The hotel provides three meals a day in their quarantine package and you can choose between Western and Asian food. Most reviews state that the food is adequate and that the portions are a good size.

2. Orchardz Hotel Jayakarta

Package: 5 nights / 6 days

  • Price for 1 person – 5.5m IDR
  • Price for 2 people – 8.5m IDR

Includes: Breakfast, lunch and dinner, 2 x PCR tests, five pieces of laundry per day,  free shuttle to Airport Soekarno Hatta.

A classically styled hotel located in the heart of Jakarta’s entertainment district and 40 minutes from Soekarno Hatta International Airport. Offering everything you will need for your quarantine stay at a reasonable price. Reviews of this hotel are very good and most guests have decent things to say about the facilities and helpful staff.  It is worth pointing out that there are six hotels under the chain name ‘Orchardz’ in Jakarta. Of these six, there were originally two Orchardz hotel branches offering the quarantine package, the Jayakarta and the Bandara. Now, only the Jayakarta is on the official quarantine hotel list, so make sure you book the right one!

3. Best Western

  • Price for 1 person – 5.85m IDR
  • Price for 2 people – 9.35m IDR

Includes: Breakfast, lunch, dinner served in the room,, 2 X PCR test, airport pick-up and five pieces of laundry per day.

The quarantine package at the Best Western Hotel is good value for money with decent facilities for a three-star hotel. Three meals a day are given and for lunch and dinner there are three choices. The food is reportedly very good with fair portion sizes. While WIFI is decent and the TV has many channels, be warned that many of the hotel rooms do not have windows! Be sure to request a room with a window to avoid that prison-cell feeling! Five days in your hotel room with no window is tough. (Note – there are several Best Western Hotels in Jakarta. The one offering the quarantine package is the Best Western Plus Kemayoran Hotel.)

4. Wyndham Casablanca Jakarta

Package: 5 nights / 6 days

  • Price for 1 person – 6m IDR
  • Price for 2 people – 6m IDR
  • Includes: The package above is for quarantine in a 40m2 Grand Deluxe Room with king size or twin bed. The package includes only breakfast. (You can also upgrade to full-board for an extra 350,000 per person per day.) Also included is airport pick-up (one-way) and five pieces of laundry per day. PCR tests not included. WIFI included.

This five-star hotel located in the heart of Jakarta’s Golden Triangle is one of the most highly rated and value for money options in Jakarta for your 5-day quarantine stay. The hotel has a gym, spa and landscaped pool – not that you’ll be able to enjoy any of them sadly! Depending on which package you choose, you can decide to have bed and breakfast only or three meals a day. Vegetarian option available. You can also choose to upgrade your room to an Executive Business Room (70m2) or a Junior Suite (80m2). None of the rooms have balconies, unfortunately, though they do have big windows. Unlike most of the other hotels on this list, there are additional charges for the PCR tests (1,750,000 IDR) which you will have to do twice before leaving.

5. Harris Suites Puri Mansion

Package: 5 nights / 6 days

  • Price for 1 person – 6m IDR
  • Price for additional person – 9m IDR
  • Includes: 3 x daily meals, five pieces of laundry per day, airport pick-up (one way), 2 X PCR tests, clearance letter.

This fairly new and modern hotel with clean and spacious rooms is a good choice for your 5-day quarantine stay… for one main reason. Not being allowed to leave your room for six days straight can be a bit claustrophobic. At least this hotel has the one big advantage of having a balcony – unlike the other hotels on this list! The food is reportedly very good here and the room service is prompt and efficient. The rooms come well equipped with flat-screen TV, hot shower, AC and WIFI. The views from the top floor rooms over the hotel gardens, swimming pool and city (that you aren’t allowed to visit yet) are impressive.

6. Mercure Jakarta Gatot Subroto

5 nights / 6 days

  • Price for 1 person – 6.2m IDR
  • Price for 2 people – 8.4m IDR

Includes: Three meals a day, 2 X PCR test, airport pick-up and five pieces of laundry per day.

Another popular choice amongst travellers. This hotel gets very good reviews in terms of staff helpfulness, facilities and room service. The food is reportedly very good, though some people have said that the portions are a bit on the small side. (They do offer vegan and vegetarian options.) If you’re not quite full after your dinner, there is a 40% discount on the food and beverages on the room service menu, which is a good deal. The views from the rooms are impressive (especially on the higher floors) though they can be a little noisy as the hotel is located on a main road. All in all, a good option at a decent price.

7. Novotel Tangerang

5 nights / 6 days

  • Price for 1 person – Available on request.
  • Price for 2 people – Available on request.

Includes: Three meals a day, 2 X PCR test, airport pick-up and five pieces of laundry per day.

A decent option for your quarantine stay, located in the Western district Tangerang, still only 40 minutes from Jakarta Airport. Rooms are spacious and modern with flat-screen TV,  AC, ensuite bathroom and window (no balcony). For food, they provide two options; Western and Indonesian. Each meal consists of juice, fruit, main course, soup, sometimes pastry or dessert. Mineral water is also included. You can only leave the hotel room to go for your PCR test and unfortunately cannot use the hotel facilities such as the swimming pool or fitness centre.

8. Shangri-La Hotel

Package: 5 nights / 6 days

  • Price for 1 person – 11.5m IDR
  • Price for 2 people – 14m IDR

Includes: Full board dining (breakfast, lunch and dinner boxes), 2 X PCR swab tests, airport greet and pick up, three pieces of laundry daily.

Another luxury hotel on the list, the five-star Shangri-La offers guests (who can afford it!) the opportunity to quarantine in style. The rooms are spacious with amazing garden and city views and some of the rooms even have terraces – what luxury! (The price above is for a 43m2 Deluxe Room.) Meals are delivered to your room and are mostly Indonesian cuisine, of high quality and large portions (vegetarian and vegan options available). There is unlimited tea and mineral water in the room as well as a coffee machine to make your own brews. As you would expect from a five-star hotel, the staff are on hand to help with your every need.

Note: The only room that is guaranteed to have a balcony is the 107m2 2-bay suite which costs 28.9m IDR for 1 person or 31.4m IDR for 2 people for the 5-night quarantine stay.

9. Ritz Carlton

Package: 5 nights / 6 days

  • Price for 1 person – 12.5m IDR
  • Price for 2 people – 15.5m IDR (Additional persons (spouse or family members) who wish to stay in the room will be charged an extra 1m IDR per day.)

Includes: Breakfast, lunch and dinner served in the room, five pieces of laundry a day, airport pick-up, 2 X PCR tests.

At the Ritz Carlton, you have a choice of two spacious and luxury rooms, the 63m2 Grand Room or the 110m2 Mayfair Suite. (Prices for the 63m2 room are above. The Mayfair Suite will cost 18.8m IDR for 1 person or 23.8m IDR for 2 people. The hotel offers everything you’d expect from a five-star hotel with comfortable, modern rooms, WIFI, flat-screen TV, AC and prompt room service. A good choice for your quarantine stay – if you can afford it!

10. Fairmont Hotel

  • Price for 2 people – 21.7m IDR

Includes: Full board dining (breakfast, lunch and dinner), 2 X PCR swab tests, airport greet and pick up, three pieces of laundry daily.

Offering a ‘luxury quarantine experience’, the Fairmont Hotel costs more than double the price of most of the other hotels on this list. Claiming to offer a 5-star quarantine stay, the Fairmont is for those guests who want to self-isolate in style. With spacious rooms and suites with big windows overlooking the Senayan Golf Course and the Jakarta skyline, this hotel is worth the price tag for many travellers. Three meals a day are delivered to your room and you can enjoy high-speed WIFI and satellite TV. Bed and breakfast or full board options are available. Based on the prices above, the bed and breakfast option is 3m IDR cheaper for a single person or 6m IDR cheaper for two people.
