This tour is a three-hour-long experience where you’ll sample at least 15 local Vietnamese street food varieties including savoury dishes, sweet snacks and unique beverages. Our advice? Have an early and light lunch or even skip lunch on the day that you join us as you’re about to get full, very full!
The tour includes a knowledgeable English-speaking local guide who will talk as you walk and eat. You’ll make friends along the way as you sample Vietnamese culinary delights and wash it down with refreshing Bia Hoi (Hanoi’s beloved street beer).
You’ll learn about Hanoi’s unique street food culture that’s been inspired by French and Chinese cuisine, and meet the friendly chefs and street food vendors along the way. It’s a great way to explore the city and delve deeper inside Hanoi’s history and culture – through its food!

Hi, I’m Nikki. I started South East Asia Backpacker in 2008 as a print magazine. My vision was to create a travel diary for everyone – a place for all travellers to share their experiences. Further down the line, I saw the opportunity to guide backpackers towards the kind of experiences that I’d treasured myself in the region. Today, there is so much choice, but there are a lot of poor-quality tours and companies that offer mediocre experiences with little care for the environment. I wanted to create a handpicked selection of the best tried and tested activities to help backpackers avoid scams and unwanted experiences.
We had a fantastic experience this evening with Linh, who was a wonderful guide, extremely sweet, and took us to eat the best food of our lives. Thank you so much to her! The tour was good value, however, I would not book through South East Asia Backpackers again. I recommend you get in touch with Friends Travel Hanoi directly instead. Having completed the online booked and paid a deposit through SE Asia Backpacker, I was not given any information about the tour (e.g. when or where it would start!), just the contact details for Friends Travel so I could reach out to them and book it myself. It turned out that there wasn’t even a tour running at the time I thought I had booked, and they knew nothing about the deposit that I had paid! By booking through this site you’re basically paying for a WhatsApp number for you to arrange your own tour 😭 Better just to contact the tour operator directly. But I recommend you do, as the tour itself was fantastic ☺️
This food tour was amazing!! We got to try so many foods that we would never have known to order for ourselves and we loved all of them! Our guide Cherry was so great and we had an amazing time, would definitely recommend!
