When & Where? 

The Singapore food tour starts at 9 am on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Tours run for 5.5 hours and begin in the East Coast/Katong district of Singapore.

Itinerary

Katong district

The food tour begins in the Katong district of Singapore. It is here where you will learn about the early Chinese immigrants to Singapore. It was through the arrival of the Chinese that the Peranakan culture emerged. Whilst you are in this area, you will enjoy a wide variety of some of Singapore’s best dishes with Chinese and Peranakan heritage. 

Potential tastings include: Kaya Toast, Curry Puff, Kopi, Bak Chang, Kuehs, Laksa. 

Old Airport Road Hawker Centre

After the tastings conclude in this area, you will travel by public bus to the Old Airport Road Hawker Centre. These centres provide delicious food for a fraction of restaurant prices and are a favourite amongst locals. 

Potential tastings include: Hokkien Mee, Rojak, Popiah and Carrot Cake.

Kampong Glam

After another short bus journey (10-minutes) will take you to Kampong Glam. You will learn about the history of the district and the Sultan’s role in founding modern Singapore. At this stop, you will try the most popular foods from the Malay, Arabic and Indonesian communities. 

Potential tastings include: Teh Tarrik, Beef Rendang and Murtabak.

Little India

The final stop of the tour is in Little India. You will learn about the development of this district and why the Indian community chose to settle in Singapore. 

Potential tastings include: Dosa, Indian sweets and Masala Milk.

  • Will this tour be cancelled in bad weather?

This tour runs daily come rain or shine! Make sure you bring a rain jacket with you just in case.

  • Where does this tour start?

In the East Coast/Katong district of Singapore, close to the first food stop. Exact location and directions will be confirmed once you have booked.

  • Where does this tour end?

The Little India region of Singapore at around 2.30 pm.

  • What if I have dietary requirements?

If you cannot consume any of the following, this food tour will not be suitable for you: milk, meat, prawns, pork, gluten (wheat), fish and spice.

  • How many food tastings will there be?

We guarantee at least 10 food tastings on each tour.

  • What if I have children under six with me?

You cannot attend a group food tour with children under six. You would need to book a private group tour.
